As COVID raged across India, farmers in Punjab faced tough times in organising and carrying regular agricultural activities. Thus, to act in response to the COVID pandemic, CIPT came forward to help farmers in Punjab to take precautionary measures in fighting this pandemic. Through distribution of masks and sanitisers at co-operative society level, the team provided these resources while simultaneously sensitising and raising awareness among farmers. Additionally, to meet the demand of these masks, CIPT involved Self-help groups (SHGs) in producing these masks with home-made material, thereby also providing them with a source of livelihood. With support of local district level administration, CIPT distributed about 15,000 masks and sanitisers among farmers and wage workers in district of Amritsar, Ludhiana and Sangrur.
