A workshop was organized on 20th November 2018 at Board room, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. J. Deka, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, AAU, Jorhat. Dr. Kamal Vatta, Director, CIPT, New Delhi was the Chief Guest of the programme. All the Statutory Officers, Head and other faculties of the departments of AAU, Jorhat campus were presented for the inaugural session. Dr. C. Hazarika, Convenor of the organizing committee, in his welcome speech elaborately discussed the basic purpose of organizing the workshop in collaboration with CIPT, New Delhi. Dr. Vatta presented briefly the present scenario and activities undertaken by CIPT for development of sustainable agriculture and improvement of farmer’s livelihood in different parts of India. Dr. Deka in his inaugural address emphasized collaborative activities with CIPT in project mood for the development of the agricultural sector in Assam. The inaugural session was immediately followed by a technical session where 122 postgraduate students of the university took part. The workshop suggested to take necessary actions on the following aspects:  Start the concept of Safal Villages in one or two places in Assam  Formation of Student Cell to provide technical advice to the farmers  Organization of idea generating workshop  An arrangement of Internship of students of AAU in CIPT  Organization of capacity building workshop for teachers and students within a short period of time in collaboration with CIPT  Development of a farmer-friendly mobile app. On the whole, the workshop was a great success.
